HIPAA Training
HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act) is a national standard designed to protect the privacy of all of an individuals' identifiable health information and to ensure that health information is available when needed for treatment and other appropriate purposes. It helps to establish trust between the patient and the provider. Understanding HIPAA and how to protect patients' privacy helps patients know they can trust their providers.
App State has partnered with KnowBe4, the #1 trusted human risk management platform, to provide HIPAA training to select faculty, staff and students.
HIPAA training is required in order to meet HIPAA compliance obligations for select staff and students in covered entity areas, as well as others who handle health-related information.
For departments requesting HIPAA training, contact Crystal Brooks or security@appstate.edu at least one (1) week before training is to begin to discuss your training needs.
